Whisker Squadron: Survivor -- Bullet Hellcats
0Hey, here's something I wasn't planning to stream until literally yesterday!
Developed by Flippfly, makers of Race The Sun, Whisker Squadron: Survivor is like Star Fox with a roguelite twist. You pick a pilot, a ship, and weapons (all of which are unlocked through gameplay, of course) and fly missions against enemies called the Swarm.
As you shoot them down, you'll pick up scrap (which is basically EXP) to upgrade your ship's capabilities. Those upgrades can improve your weapons, your health, your energy, or they can give you augments like health recovery if you land a critical hit, or drones to help you take out more enemies.
You can rack up combos by killing enemies quickly without taking hull damage, and you get a recoverable shield as a buffer. They also give you a booster, and if you fly through tight spaces, well, they call that a Tight Boost. It doesn't do anything on its own, but there are augments that will give you health, energy, or even a damage buff if you pull one off!
It's still in Early Access on Steam, and the store page says it'll be about 4-8 months before the full release. Even so, as it stands, it's a pretty fun game, and I look forward to the updates!
