Bayonetta 3 Session 6: It's The End of Many Worlds As We Know It

Jeanne has found Dr. Sigurd, and it's time to get him out of his facility so we can get into the Alphaverse. Our last side chapter is more scrolling shooter than stealth action platformer. I don't really have much to say about it, but I guess I'm good at it by the game's standards.
Once Jeanne and Bayonetta are reunited, they rely on Dr. Sigurd to open a portal to the Alphaverse, but of course it's not going to be so simple. Of course it's not! How could it be? The two witches have to fight off the Homunculus forces to keep them from breaking the device. There's too many of them, though, and if Bayonetta gets bogged down with fighting them, she won't get to the Alphaverse. So, she leaves it to Jeanne and rushes through Ginnungagap.
On the other side is the nerve center for all of the Homunculi. The dang thing looks almost like the Hydra from Skies of Arcadia, just a big flying warship. Tapping into the power of Madama Butterfly, it's time to kick this thing's ass. But then, of course, Luka shows up, and it seems he's full of self-doubt. Enough self-doubt, in fact, to lose control of himself and turn in Strider again. Bayonetta tries to calm him down, but he lashes out at her, and there's a fight to be had.
When the fight seems to be over, and Luka's back to his senses, she tries to rescue him, but at the last moment, he bats her hand away, leaving a manifestation of the darkness within him for a Round 2. After beating him, we get a bit of a revelation.
See, it turns out that the Alphaverse isn't good for anything. This big floating chunk of rock is all that's left. It was all a trap, laid for us at the very start when we were told to go to the Alphaverse by none other than Sigurd himself. He wanted to trap Bayonetta in the Alphaverse where she couldn't interfere. And just as we learn that, we see Dr. Sigurd stab Jeanne in the back.
But Lukaon manages to come in and restore our Luka, who knows how to get Bayonetta and Viola back home... somehow. Look, there's a big mass of energy, it's fine, don't worry about it.
After that is our big climactic final battle, and perhaps I should leave it at that.
That's it for the main game, but there's still more of the game to show. I want to do all the Phenomenal Remnants, and there's that picture book to check out. Then, lastly, is the Witch Trial, which sounds a lot like the Bloody Palace from the DMC games.
