Why are PVE Rust Servers so Unpopular?
267Rust is a very difficult survival game to play that demands a lot of your time and attention to master; this is a big driving factor in why a noteworthy portion of the community is seen as toxic. A lot of people do not like this and wish to play the game differently from the Vanilla experience of constantly being killed, raided, and losing all your stuff. So, people have created PVE Servers for those people.
Player vs Environment servers aim to make the game easier and more relaxing to play by removing the PVP elements that make the game so frustrating. However, in doing so, they also take away a lot of the fun Rust has to offer, which leads to these servers having a very low population.
In this video, I take a deep dive into the reasons for why PVE Rust servers fail to meet the needs of fans. I also talk about Roleplay servers and how they almost get it right, but just fall short. RP servers are the best out there right now.
This video is part of an ongoing series with the goal of getting enough players to populate a server that I want to launch myself to create the experience I want to play. However, lately I have also been exploring the possibility of just creating my own survival game with the Godot Engine instead. I talk about that in the video as well.
If Facepunch Studios keeps going down the path they have been and continue to ignore fans like me who want something different, that might just be what I end up doing.
