Gravity isn’t really a force that acts on objects themselves. Gravity is really the curvature of space which causes objects to move toward each other.
Imagine there is a rocket ship floating in space. Inside there is a heavy object and a light object. If the rocket ship were to start accelerating, both objects would “fall” at the same speed. This is because it is the ship that is accelerating while no force is being applied to the objects themselves.
This is the same as how gravity on Earth works. When objects fall no actual force is being applied to them, so all objects fall at the same speed.
