Why Mario is in Super Smash Bros [Advent Calendar #22]
It's finally happened. The Advent Calendar has broken us. We've hit rock bottom and genuinely done a video about why Mario is in Super Smash Bros.
Isn't it obvious?!
Wait... IS it obvious?! After all, why make Smash a big Nintendo crossover in the first place? Why not make a game instead called, oh, I don't know, Dragon King: The Fighting Game instead?
We touched on this a bit in our Pikachu Smash video, but Sakurai had his work cut out for him trying to convince other developers at Nintendo to let him make the version of Smash that he was thinking of. Most devs didn't love the idea of having Mario and Kirby fighting to the death - which is why the game is built around ringouts rather than a traditional health bar.
Anyways, I need sleep. See you tomorrow for the penultimate Video Game Story Time Advent Calendar video.
Lots of love,
