The Advent Calendar is back! Apologies for missing a couple of days, it turns out that December is a pretty busy months and committing to a video every day was a bit ambitious!

Anyways, so this video is going up immediately after that Super Nintendo World theme park Direct, so let's pretend this is a deliberate tie-in with that. Sure, why not?

The Direct was so cute, by the way. I could watch Shigeru Miyamoto wander around his own personal fantasy land for hours.


Mario and Green Mario, or as he's formally known, Luigi, are twins. This is canon, and it's canon because they were once identical characters due to hardware limitations for the original Mario Bros arcade game.

Now, of course, the two characters have their own distinct personalities. Or, well, Luigi has a personality. Mario's still a little wooden, if only because he has to always be the bland default hero that everyone can identify with. See our earlier Advent Calendar video about why Mario is a plumber for more on that particular subject.

But Luigi? Now there's a relatable character! With that overlooked Little Brother attitude, and his perpetual fear of anything even remotely creepy? And then his determined bravery in the face of his fears? Yes, Green Mario is truly the best Mario.

Except Yellow Mario. Wario is actually the best, don't @ me.

So by now I've beat the "wrong name for video game characters" drum pretty hard. Might do "Why Zelda is non-binary" tomorrow just to ruin your day a bit more. Honestly, so many people didn't seem to get that the Metroid thumbnail was a joke. With so many people having so much fun hating on it, well, it seemed rude not to give them more of what they want. Wouldn't want to disappoint people by posting a video that isn't trolling hard, now would I?

Looking forward to seeing how many comments say some variation on "Um, actually, Green Mario is called Luigi". I get my kicks in weird ways.
