5So it was just announced and is visible in the game upon login, MAAT (Marvel Avengers Alliance Tactics) is shuttering the game. It had a brief but wild storm ride as a related cousin to MAA.
I got to take part in the MAAT beta when it was not accessible to the US. I put a proxy service onto Chrome called Hola and spoofed my IP so I could gain access. I found the game fun and liked the tie-ins to MAA. They shared a similar universe and many of the heroes in both games played about the same. MAAT is a tactical game similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and others. Unfortunately, a few glaring issues hampered the game and never let it take off like MAA did.
The game is a bit heavier on your flash than MAA is and can lead it to run really poorly for some people. Unlike several similar games (like HOMM online), you could not pick PVP vs PVE. This leads to anybody at nearly any time being cattle for higher level players. Speaking of higher level players, those in the beta countries did not get a wipe going into live. While this was good for me at first, the high rollers maintained their gap against newbies and could roll over anybody they wanted. Combine this with a lack of an easy way to get shields and it became a nightmare for many. The game has potential and while it's a bit sad it's going, I feel it could come back and be worthwhile if they fix the issues.
