Wii Metroid Prime: Trilogy G23, 1st Campaign pt17: First contact w/ Metroids & Thermal Visor.
I am now en route to the Space Pirates mean area of their research complex. It is then, when I encountered Metroids for the first time. And the Pirate's intent with them. Vid timeline:
(0:00) Intro and en route to Control Tower.
(2:48) Control Tower.
(6:09) East Tower, Aether Lab Entryway and Research Lab Aether.
There's a lot of information about the Space Pirates various Phazon projects and experiments here. But I think, things can be split into three main areas:
Ridley: The need to transform Samus Aran's nemesis into Meta Ridley, a super leader capable of being unstoppable. He is to lead his armies of enhanced warriors to conquer all who stand in his way.
Apparently, it all has been a success. And his transformation is complete.
Project Titan: What I believe to be the experiments tied to the creation of an army of enhanced Space Pirates. It seems however, that was stated as something promising, fell apart. And they are now gearing up for a second attempt.
Metroids: Their aim with these is to turn them into "energy harvesters". Seems they think they can create an unlimited source of energy. I'm not clear on what's the status of this.
(26:03) Research Core Access and Research Core.
Looks like most of their captive Metroids where kept here.
Also found here, the Thermal Visor, a piece of tech meant to detect Phazon. Wether on it's own. Or on those who are infected.
(39:43) Back to Research Core Access, Research Lab Aether and Aether Lab Entryway.
(45:52) En route back to Save Station.
