Wii Metroid Prime: Trilogy G77, 2nd Campaign pt18: Finally finding out what I missed & why.
I endured two more grueling hours before I finally was able to spot the platform that enabled me to reach the Morph Ball Cannon, and to normal progress. But I know I couldn't have missed that the first time. Something happened. I went to back my previous, related gameplay... Vid timeline:
(0:00) Intro and 1 hr and 43 mins of more desperation...
(1:43:07) Gathering Hall and Crypt: Where it all began.
These are the places that triggered the massive, multi-hour backtrack. It's the same room on both the Light and Dark Aether Worlds. While on Crypt, I forgot I already handled the laser. And no more could be done with it.
(1:51:54) Back at Gathering Hall.
(1:56:27) Something's different.
I eventually spotted an extended platform from the wall, which allowed me to go to the Morph Ball Cannon. That in turn, allowed me to reach the White Door, and ultimately, to gain access to the Hydrodynamo Shaft below.
Something wasn't right. How could I missed all that the first time? So, I went back to when it all began on my gameplay G70 to investigate. The platform was not extended. However, after operating the laser on Crypt, the platform became extended when I returned to Gathering Hall.
But I didn't noticed that. I didn't saw the game clued me in regarding that being the purpose of the laser. I thought I needed to use that to expose the location of the forcefield crystal. When that didn't worked out, I was left wondering about the point of the laser. But with Gathering Hall featuring a Grapple Hook point and numerous Spider Ball tracks, naturally, I concluded I needed the Grapple Hook and/or Spider Ball to progress. Such features distracted me. So I didn't thought that there could be another way. It appears the Grapple Hook serves no meaningful purpose. However, the Spider Ball tracks...
In the end, I went online and confirmed what happened. The laser needs to be pointed to what looks like a crystal on the wall, to extend the platform in question.
(1:58:57) Access to Hydrodynamo Shaft.
I began to suspect, it was the Underwater Suit was I was going to acquire here.
(2:01:00) Hydrodynamo Shaft.
No Dark Samus. Alpha Blogg found instead. It didn't hit me during the gameplay, but I now realize the scan said the creature's weapon is Sonic based. Sonic equipment is what I need to handle certain Ing and Luminoth areas.
(2:05:23) Main Hydrochamber and getting the Gravity Boost.
Better than the Underwater Suit from the first game, as it allows for a third layer of jumping. However, it only works under water. So now, I suspect there's an add on to it, for land use.
(2:12:35) Samus Aran vs Alpha Blogg.
(2:17:39) Defeating the Alpha Blogg and Save Station.
I was allowed to grand the Gravity Boost before the first. However, the creature didn't dropped Sonic equipment, despite being armed with a Sonic type of weapon. Maybe, maybe, that's what lies under the glass on Gathering Hall. And I need to Powe Ball to punch through...
