i feel utterly ashamed to have never played a golden axe game. beat 'em ups generally have never been my thing. i played double dragon among a few other painfully forgettable beat em ups a long while ago and never really touched it again. the singular acception to this view that i hold in regard to beat em ups are the splatterhouse games. if you've been around here for a while you'd know that i like comical amounts of gore and by extention stereotypical spooky halloween-esque shit in vidja and anime and the like. despite this generally i am a pussy in every other regard who hates games with jumpscares because they give me heart attacks, but splatterhouse is in that perfect middle ground for me where it has that spooky atmosphere while not having me on edge 100% of the time at fear of jumpscares. splatterhouse 2 on genesis is one of the first games that i have a distinct memory of being fucking terrified of upon seeing it as a wee little 7 year old going on rom sites without a care in the world so it took me years to actually sit down and play 2 and the arcade original. haven't played 3 but i might some day. you may think im a pussy now for having still never played resident evil or silent hill but boy oh boy back in the day i was scared to look up in majora's mask because the moon would give little young me nightmares. i was also really terrified of early minecraft because yes i was one of those kids who was young enough to be scared of herobrine when it was first getting really big. didn't help much that i had a friend who was effectively my older brother who was about seven years older than me who would always egg young little me on to believing that this stupid shit was real for the lulz. y'know the only time he told the truth in regard to that was when he took me to the ghetto part of the city down the mountain when i was like eleven and he told me something along the lines of "dude you better watch out we might get shot" and he wasn't kidding because getting shot and/or stabbed down there is a very real possibility. sucks, cause thats where most of the cool little vidja shops and thrift stores are. i look back on being scared of stupid shit like creepypastas from time to time and realize how funny a lot of them were at the end of the day purely because of how fucking shit they were. slenderman comes to mind as the main one that just fucking sucked even back then.
this ended up being not at all coherent how the fuck did i go from talking about splatterhouse to slenderman? anyways, yeah. splatterhouse is fun and also brilliant in terms of visual presentation and you should play it even if you aren't a fan of beat 'em ups generally.
have a wonderful day, gentlemen.

***EVERYTHING FROM HERE BELOW WILL BE RELATED TO MY ECHOFIED COVER PROJECT BECAUSE I KINDA HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IM DOING IN REGARD TO THAT SO YOU DONT HAVE TO READ THIS***
caught in the middle is officially done and that means that i am now done transcribing five out of the six songs from echofied 6581. i am really stuck on what to do in regard to crosswords due to the jummbox bpm limit not allowing for me to properly transcribe crosswords at 380 bpm. last week i went over how terribly sluggish it is to transcribe anything at any tempo below at ~220 bpm in jummbox due to how the program works and how i always double the bpm of any given track that i want to do to make the process smoother and not hellish for me. i think what i might have to end up doing is transcribing the whole thing at 360 bpm - the jummbox bpm limit - and then going back and speeding every single individual track up manually in whatever audio editing program i would choose to use. that is really my only option since i still don't know how to mod the html source code in jummbox or find any other glitch or workaround. so yeah, the echofied cover is still coming. also itll probably show all 12 pulse/tri/whatever channels and the noise channel i use because id like to be able to show the echo channel and the misc. extra channels i use for once.
