Witcher 3 (PS4) - Suddenly, unwinnable
This here is a mostly unedited clip from my first playthrough of the game where I accidentally managed to make the game unwinnable.
I had left the game on for a little while in a shop menu. Upon returning the game now loaded things fairly slow for some reason. Not realizing the full repercussions of this, I tried to continue the Novigrad quest line and visited Dandelion's friends in a pretty quick order, curious as to why nothing special happened at any of the objective markers I visited.
Finally, at Miss Marabella's lodge, as I stopped to read a note on the table, the game finally finished loading (?) and I got three different cutscenes in a row. It seems like all of the cutscenes had been buffered in the background and then played in a semi-random order.
Deciding to leave for the horse races with the La Valettes was an unfortunate decision, because Geralt never made it to the horse races and was instead was teleported to Marabella's lodge where the final of the three cutscenes took place.
When I later re-visited La Valettes' again, the objective marker still pointed me to their door although I had already watched the cutscene there... so it seemed like the story quest had come to a permanent standstill. I'm not 100% sure if the game would've continued normally had I went to the horse races with Geralt, but I couldn't test it since it was my first playthrough and I had no idea where the next objective was. I just assumed it was an unwinnable situation.
And honestly I can't say if this was truly a loading-related thing or if there was some other glitch at play that made cutscenes buffer in the background until I visited the menu.
