Witcher 3 (PS4) - Whoreson-ception
5The epic Christopher Nolan-esque summer blockbuster of glitch videos! Almost. Also contains some spoilers regarding the Novigrad quest line and the crime boss Whoreson.
Continuing from the video "Ciri's great escape (to Skellige)"... I finally completed the travel to Skellige with Geralt's severed head. Sadly it was not Ciri who woke up battered on the shores of Skellige, but Geralt, this time with a full body as well. Things have seemingly returned to normal for him, although the game claims he is over-encumbered despite carrying only half of his maximum capacity (this became fixed if I dropped anything in my inventory) and the HUD warns that I'm deadly underleveled for my current quest (which I'm not).
Oh well, turning back into Geralt like this means that I can return to the Ciri flashback and finish it AS Geralt. That's right, Geralt is such a badass that he enters Whoreson's flashback, just like that.
*epic brass instrument sound cue*
You can get back into the flashback by just jumping into there from the nearby roofs. Dandelion is still inside the yard, and he even acknowledges that you're playing as Geralt at the moment. Too bad he doesn't want to talk about anything else at the moment... would save you a lot of trouble later.
Let's try something interesting first. What would happen if you infiltrated the level without opening the balcony window? This is possible to test since there is a ladder nearby, so just water bow + ladder your way into lower levels of the map. The entire building is actually empty of actors at the moment. The exit is locked so you can't use it early. The only thing you can do inside is to get to the top floor and open the balcony window from the inside to proceed in the mission.
Basically Ciri appears inside all of the cutscenes and plays her part like usual. Geralt is also present, but people do their best to ignore him. Outside the cutscenes, you play as Geralt and you even get to actually fight Whoreson as him, which is an unique scenario I think. A secret boss battle of sort.
Finishing the memory as Geralt doesn't cause anything too interesting to happen. You just return back to where you left off, interrogating Whoreson. Of course Whoreson's flashback didn't make a whole lot of sense with Geralt in it, but that was Geralt's own fault for infiltrating a flashback as carelessly as he did.
Some alternative ideas. Just a silly looking variation where Geralt has muscle tics and stands outside the window when opening it.
One of the unique things you can do here as Geralt is to whistle your horse. Roach actually spawns on the roof, so you can try to activate the cutscene and then mount it... but that only causes the camera to glitch up for a moment.
Also, I went and visited Whoreson's home at Oxenfurt while having escaped the flashback. The Get Junior quest is currently at a standstill with no objective marker to go to. While Whoreson's estate is wide open with no one guarding it and doors open, Geralt and Whoreson are nowhere to be found. Geralt wonders: is this yet another dream he is mistaking for reality? Did he go in too deep?
As one final test, Geralt jumps off the balcony as he opens the window... Apparently since he is not an intended character in the cutscene, the game couldn't care less what happens to him. So you get a game over while in the cutscene.
