World to the West is a Top-Down Action Adventure, but so far it relys more on dodging the enemies than fighting them. So it plays pretty different from Links Awakening as example. World to the West, relys more on platforming and solving puzzles, but with different characters, that have a different set of abilities. This helps to progress at a place, where another character can't progress. You also unlock Totem-Checkpoints, which serves as teleporters. So you can travel from Totem to Totem, if you reached the Totem your character. Now comes the weird thing, if character A reaches the Totem, Character B cannot Teleport that Totem, unless character B reached that Totem by foot.
This kinda feels a bit off, but i guess this was made, so that you don't get lost. So in a way, you play the same areas multiple times, to access areas that where closed before. This is okay, since this is what you would expect in an Adventure game.

I like the minimalistic design, they where going for, but i think the caves are too dark. I played the game at normal daylight (no sun was shining at the monitor) and i had my problems to see some paths that where in the shadows.
