In the opening match at NXT Takeover Chicago, the Revival defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against Blake and Murphy. In an well fought match the Revival successfully defend the NXT Tag Team Championships by pinning Blake after a double team finisher. Next Auska defends the NXT Women's Championship against Alexa Bliss, who is filling in for an injured Bayley. In a shocking turn of events, Alexa Bliss successfully defeats Auska to become the new NXT Women's Champion. Bayley attacks Alexa Bliss after her win, but is quickly cut down by Bliss. In the main event of NXT Takeover Chicago, NXT Champion Samoa Joe takes on the number 1 contender Shinsuke Nakamura in a steel cage match. With both participants using the steel cage at a weapon, it si Samoa Joe who escapes the cage to retain the NXT Championship. Now we head to Raw and one step closer towards Extreme Rules.
