(Jared sits with quite a visibly tired expession on his face inside the Avenger's living quarters. No one is nearby, which is rather good for him)
Ouch... At last, can type here again... On what I've stopped...
(Jared re-checks the information inside his HDD and finds out that the last log was when Zoe quit XCOM. He growls slightly, but doesn't scream this time)
Yeah... this case... Just what are you planning, Kelly...
(Jared feels like he's going to just fall asleep on his bed. He reaches towards the mini-bar where fresh and icy drinks are kept. One sip - and his mind is already awakened by an ice strike right into the brain. Some freshness is back, and so Jared decides to type while he's still up)
Thanks for the drink, suppliers... It's been almost two months since Kelly threw Zoe out indirectly. Honestly, it was good for Zoe, because there's been so much godawful stuff going on.
Constant VIP guarding duty, being forced to talk with the aliens... Huh, about them - I don't know how, but Shrike has gotten into a really, really big trouble with them.
Can't blame Kelly - though she had some smile; that thing about "the world is changing" was fueled up by alien inmates and former ADVENT citizenship. They whined, on and on, about "how the aliens are being kept badly", "we're all friends" and such stupid words in that 31th city or something.
Shrike's been found guilty about merciless abuse of power and some bribery from shady Resistance members. As said, nothing is yet known to me, but these whiners used the words about how the Shrike is not unlike mercenaries and similar insults to them.
Maybe they didn't like the peace they kept, don't really care - they didn't whine about Ethereals keeping them under psionic chains and using them as a food supply, so that's really weird for their former pets. The group in charge of that city was, however, affected by whining. So, the Shrikers are on the defensive right now. Kelly supports the ones who want "to change the world", but I've entered a deal with John so that we don't interfere with each other. Would be nice to just go and wave a hand to Shrike, but can't because of agreement.
Meanwhile, during the times when I wasn't guarding some techy jumbo, I've found something quite weird.
A tablet, made out of some rusty yellow metal...
(Jared felt like his mind is getting back into sleep mode, so he had to shake himself up to continue typing)
The tablet, yes... No one even knew what to think about it. It felt completely unknown and truly alien to us. That former ADVENT goon from linguist likes didn't do jack. Neither did the engineers.
The image on the tablet itself was not too defined too, but I did manage to see a bit. Something looking like a water, a some kind of claw and what is best described as a hair.
I really don't know what that puddle-hair was supposed to mean!
(Jared thinks a bit about what is known about the tablet, suddenly he remembers something)
Wait a sec... This puddle-hair... I think I've seen it in EXALT's intact intelligence with John. Though even they didn't have a clue what to make of it. There were some weird words as well...
Ah, it makes my head spin... Maybe typing today was a bad idea...
(Jared lies on the bed, staring into the roof of the living quarters. He gets sleepy...
A memory of Jared fighting the aliens pops out in his eyes. A rather victorious approach to the situation, with Magnekit's Lucksgun decimating the opposition nearby. A lucky plasma shot tears down one of nearby Muton's armor plates, revealing its skin. There are tribal tattoos connected to Muton religious beliefs... Suddenly, Jared notices the aforementioned puddle-hair on the skin of the alien.
He barely wakes up)
Mutons... have the same image?
(gets sleepy again)
Maybe they know about it somewhat...
(yawns) Ah well, I'll find out the truth about this thing some other time.
(Jared falls asleep, forgetting to hide his own HDD into his usual box. HDD turns off slightly later)
