(Jared managed to fix his HDD, but not completely. He decided not to replace it even with problems and started carrying it with him everywhere. But on occasion, HDD sometimes recorded the data itself, using stock phrases for filenames)

(Jared is in an outside market with Nicoletta Gasparado after he got her invitation. Re-establishing his connection to both of XCOM's most important strategic people in order to somehow find a way to defeat the Dimensional Viewer and save everyone he knows, along with easening the tension between himself and Kelly, Jared gained an access to use the transportation if necessary - for the price of recruiting people in several Resistance camps for XCOM and investigating the whereabouts of Heike, unruly aliens and Essentuki's shady things undercover when asked while assuming full responsibility and denial of involvement with XCOM if he's caught)
J: Good to know you found something to do...
(A confident female voice is heard. It is comprehensible, but rather quiet. HDD didn't subtitle it in the recording)
J: Oh, with Monique... Cool. But I know someone in particular that would go crazy on what you've chosen.
(A confident female voice gets louder, but even more confident. In the overall volume a rock-solid decision is heard, along with dismissal of said someone)
J: (smirks) If you're completely clear about not meeting again, then... Okay, listen, there's something import--
(A happy female exclamation is heard, interrupting Jared mid-sentence. Nicoletta spotted some human-made psionic attraction which she wanted to show him for a long time)
J: (alarmed) ...you sure it's safe?
(Nicoletta says "Yes" with audible excitement)
J: Alright... I trust you after all...
(The psionic attraction was an experience out of this world. Sadly, because of its location in one of Jared's street wear pockets, it wouldn't record what happened on its on-board recording system. Both Jared and Nicoletta seemed to have a good time)
(when outside) J: ...hah, it didn't go that badly...
(Nicoletta grimaced when remembering what led her to being kicked out by Kelly, but this expression changed into some pure ecstasy from being able to operate psionic attraction directly because of her own psionic potential)
J: Here, it's for you.
(Jared gave Nicoletta some snack he made out of Resistance's supplies. It looked like an undersized white bread with weird forms, and being quite sugary, but otherwise edible. Considering it far from the best food she saw, Nicoletta still thanked Jared while opening the snack and eating it without that much enjoyment)
(15 minutes later, Jared followed Nicoletta to a local gravirail station, as she had to get back thanks to an untimely call from her and Monique's mutual employer. Then Jared remembered the reason why he wanted to meet with his friend)
J: Ugh, I'm sorry to say this. Nic, I need to ask you something important.
(Nicoletta asked Jared with anticipation about the question Jared asked. While being quite happy and cheerful - in fact, thousand times more than when she still was in XCOM, even during the events of War of the Chosen. Seeing her smile and genuine easiness put Jared in quite a twisted situation - Nicoletta hated fighting with the aliens and vowed to never take a weapon in her hands again after getting kicked out of XCOM. Her psionic insanity was also subdued thanks to not being fed by dire thoughts of death and survival prevalent during her XCOM's service.
Telling her that yet another intruder, the Dimensional Viewer, is out for blood of everyone she formed bonds with, along with herself, and is completely relentless about that, would just be too much for mental health, even if she didn't agree to break her weapon-free vows.
Jared understood this - and he didn't want to see his friend becoming an insane psionically-induced lunatic he witnessed during Essentuki's interrogations, even if that meant weakening himself and forcing to see for other options)
J: ...well, I've met Ferguson some time ago and asked about if we would meet again... Would you mind to come to party if there's one?
(Nicoletta gleed with joy after hearing about the opportunity to see Jared again soon.
When the gravitrain arrived, before getting on board, Nicoletta turned around and kissed Jared on his cheek, signaling her trust of him and turning their relationship intimate.
Jared stood grimly while looking at the gravitrain with her leaving).
J: (silently) No, Nic, you had enough of it all already... I will handle it with others, so you would still be happy...
(Jared decided to record his day onto HDD. He took it out of pockets and discovered HDD's recording-in-progress)
