Hello again.

This mission is alright. Its name rocks. That's everything I'm going to say about this episode.

On another note, which is much more interesting - I've FINALLY started the production stage of XCOM 2 The Second Encounter Episode 8 - after two months of inactivity, I know. It will be here soon, don't worry.

Now let's continue the story that began in the previous episode, shall we, Watchers and Commenters?

I'm back, and I've decided to finish this horrifying story.

So, I've stopped on the point that ADVENT loyalists have guided their carnivorous pets to the surface from the hellhole in which they resided.
When they did so, they were consumed by the beasts of apocalypse which resided within Chryssalids and waited for their own turn to shine.

That's what they deserved for what happened next anyway.

Resistance cells were getting used to Faceless, Mutons and snakewomen all around the globe during our initial liberation effort. But only a few selected camps, also including XCOM and three Resistance factions knew about what danger the overgrown insects actually presented.

Those who led the loyalists to their lab didn't. They weren't prepared. As the iron gate was broken down by the sheer rage of these hideous beasts, all hell went loose. This entire Resistance group was wiped out in seconds. And they've become the first host of newer batch of Chryssalids.

A lot of us did see how Chryssalids hunt on their random prey. Humans, aliens, birds, even fish - it doesn't matter for this being as long as it is not another Chryssalid and it is made of fresh meat.

By the time we've arrived to the spot, the air was filled with rotten smell and puke-inducing vapors around the battlefield. Our initial district of interest was already overrun by Chryssalids, so we had to hold the line instead in a neighbourhooding one.

They were so many that the seemingly endless reinforcements we've seen before were nothing compared to this massacre. We arrived too late to quarantine the situation and were forced on the defensive. Resistance members were shooting like crazy - so did we. But it didn't help that Chryssalids were amazing jumpers - and they did reach almost every corner where innocent civilians and ADVENT defectors were hiding. Constant barrage of new aliens jumped and pursued those who tried to escape, with understandable conclusion.

I was assigned in the squad together with Jane Kelly. And it was apparent from the first sight that we had quite different views on what we should do. I tried to persuade the squad that we should block the roads while Kelly barked more about "saving the civilians". Kelly, you don't save the civilians by running to them and saying "go, you're clear" when this quote is simply false!
But the squad in which I was has been pro-Kelly. Seriously though, why I should be bossed around by a no-name which didn't participate directly in XCOM?! Just because she is "respected" doesn't give her the right to say that she's absolutely right. As a conclusion, I was gagged by their talk and had to obey.

This obeying almost cost our entire squad. I vividly remember Kelly herself being cornered by four Chryssalids in one spot.
Until he came.

I've heard a song before. It said "His heart is pure, his body is strong". Don't know about the heart, but the body was definitely strong, as he was a Muton. Joining for absolutely no clear reason, he singlehandely saved our squad from being turned into more insects.

He was unmasked, and his berserker-style mouth displayed an unstoppable fury. With his own teeth he ripped apart Chryssalids' necks as they were appoaching us. This day I've finally seen an angry Muton up close.

Thanks to the Muton we were able to retreat. The situation was dire - and a final solution was found. After our Fortress mission we scavenged two tactical nukes - and they both had to be used.

With a panicking mind, Resistance urged the Commander to use them right away as they haven't been able to do anything. This day will forever go down in history as we had to use nuclear weapons on this city. Sometimes, the only right solution requires sacrifices in dire need.

Two nukes wiped out the affected area, along with all the Chryssalids. We now knew what we're going up against. In fact, we're making some new tactics right now in order to not let that happen again.

Jane Kelly decided to speak that we "have lost over a thousand civilians in Bugtown" to other Resistance members. Uh-huh, Kelly, what a nice move to cover up 64 thousands of dead people and a nuclear drop.
I've lost a lot of respect to Jane after this outrageous lie. We also placed this Muton savior into custody to speak with him.
I'll see what happens to him in the future.

But I will remember this massacre for the rest of my life.
