Hello again.

In this episode we're going... to ESCORT A FRIENDLY VIP.
And by seeing Whisper's face on that thumbnail, you should already know how fun this operation was!

Took a while to get to writing again. Had reasons for so.

It's been more than a week since this horrifying massacre in Novosibirsk (I doublechecked it through old maps, mission location and recently acquired ADVENT intelligence - it IS the actual name of city, not "City 107"). To cover-up our failure of really epic proportions, Resistance adapted the moniker "Bugtown" - the one which was coined by Kelly. So no people unconnected to the Resistance would even know which city it was!

Still, the lessons were learned. We also had found a way how to restrain Chryssalids, thanks to the efforts of Tygan. Seriously, this guy may be boring, but he's a miraculous bioscientist - with his knowledge we discovered that psionics could paralyze the insects from acting. This could prove useful in the future when I'll get to the battlefield again...

Oh yes, I'm typing "when"! Now, where am I exactly?

I should have gone to the mission along with Jana Hauffman, Kovarik (along with his girlfriend) and JULIAN-BLESSOR to fight and capture more resisting aliens. This could be a real fun.
But thanks to Kelly talking to the Commander, I was chosen as a... more socially-oriented soldier to interrogate that Muton we've captured in Novosibirsk. Nicoletta also went with me - and she actually grabbed my stuff. So thanks a lot, Nic. Because otherwise I'd climb on walls here.

Our trip to the captive zone began badly at the arrival. We've been expected to arrive. When we got off the transporter, I've finally met the one who was shrouded in terror.

There were scary horror stories about the brutality of Essentuki Miramistinova, our ally from ADVENT's higher ranks, which, after some talking to her, could actually be true!
After we dealt with the aliens, she became the official leader of Eastern European Autonomy, with no objections from the Resistance, based on her leadership skills and lots of valuable aid during the Liberation War. The woman herself was black-haired, with full red dress of ADVENT galore. It was clear from just looking at her face that she restrained lots of pure wrath directed at us - despite her efforts, her brown eyes were visibly twitching while she looked at me.

The instant me and Nic have gotten near her, a wave of cold engulfed us. Just standing near her was terrifying.

Afterwards, we proceeded to descent into the captive zone itself. From the looks of it, it was an old secret maximum-level prison of sorts, presumably from the sixties. And it showed.
We, along with Essentuki, walked through dark corridors, painted in the most revolting combination of bleak cyan and yellow. It was clear that the complex was reinstated really soon after we killed the Ethereals - no repair jobs, hasty they be, were made, as we were greeted by thick spider web, sickly-illuminating lamps and really creepy spots of withered red inside some rooms. Some aliens and ADVENT goons have been inside the cells, and they've been supplied by water and food, but it looked like that only Essentuki really was here out of non-captives, as I can't explain why the conditions were horrible.
The structure was human-made, but what humans have been kept here during its heyday?

After this nightmare-inducing show, we've actually met the Muton himself. I've been assigned as the interrogator of the alien.
To be really honest, I've been afraid that the beast could break down his chains and make my head and the surrounding wall be the one thing. However on, with the help of one former ADVENT linguist and a translator, I've got the Muton to talk. His reasons for joining the fight were really unclear, aside from, what I've understood, "the urge to fight overwhelming forces".

As our little talk progressed, I've gained more information on the alien. He was close to being forty, with holding the name of Ax'Omow bul-Gad Pirquv (by what I've understood, that meant "Explorer of Greater Purpose" - nonsense, really). What was really unexpected, is that he held a huge respect for us. He said (as translator told) "You're fought well, humanity. You deserve your rightful place among the stars, as foretold by the Greatest One".

Who is the Greatest One though? I have to find out on my own.

When Essentuki joined the interrogation, it became cold again. While Muton was talking respectful sentences, Essentuki instead used really convoluted structures of absolute hatred towards the alien. Funny thing is that she didn't use inappopriate wording at all - she avoided that like acid.

This is going to be a really weird story in the end - but I still have to interrogate Ax'Omow. For now though, I need to think about everything else.
