XCOM: Chimerian Squadron - Episode 8 // HandBraked
==== Began uploading on 2022, May, 22th, 0:36 ====
Hello again.
Why it's so boring to describe what happens during the episodes of Chimerian Squadron?
Well, we go to some kind of bazaar (or street market) which is so old technologically-wise in comparision to the vast majority of City 31 and its own walls that this becomes the main topic of the video instead of the operation itself!

Thankfully, me and Nic got out of this creepy prison in one piece.
My theory is correct - Essentuki is indeed a psionic. Little talk with the bloodthirsty beasts in their cells confirmed the thought. And I'm quite scared to say that she might actually rival the Ethereals in sheer power!
Ax'Omow might actually be the least of our problems in the future when you live on the same planet as her.
My adventure with the Eastern European Autonomy leader sadly didn't end on us parting ways. We, along with Essentuki, were called to attend a meeting between the territories, freed from alien control.
During the time of our absence from the Avenger, lots of amazing events happened. XCOM, with Tygan leading the science effort (and restraining the Chryssalids along with other things) has finished liberating quite a good portion of former ADVENT territories in Northern America, enough for the continent to become human-controlled again. United States looked like to be rising from the ashes like a phoenix after its death.
This allowed us to reclaim what was used to be Kansas. I remember John himself saying that he used to live here - and during his wedding, the desire to return to his home to live with his wife and daughter eventually.
For us, it meant establishing a place where the Resistance efforts would be coordinated. And that's exactly where we went today.
Honestly, it also was my chance to visit the city center in my country without running around. During the childhood, the world was limited by my own town. And even during the invasion, I've visited only Washington and New York during their respective sieges. Most of the battles I've participated in were in deserts or plains. God, I hated deserts even before the initial invasion, and my hate only multiplied after it.
So, we had a meeting. And it was in a former ADVENT hall that was left relatively untouched there. Districts around the hall were in intense fighting three weeks ago, but right now the city is in state of repairs. Corpses of combatants being carried out, fire extinguishing, supplies distribution - everything you'd see in a post-battle settlement. Yet the city was, even in its damaged state, a beautiful place.
Before it all started, I've met our representatives. They were Shen... and Kelly. Kelly almost instantly tried to interrogate me about what happened in the prison.
I've told her everything about Ax'Omow and said that she had to bugger off from my back. Nic demanded this as well. With these words, we've entered the meeting between Resistance groups.
The meeting itself went quite intense from the start, thanks to Essentuki. While the topic of our meeting was how to control the liberated territories in our state, Essentuki redirected the entire thing to the Novosibirsk massacre. Me and Nic didn't have to suffer this time thankfully. It was greatly satisfying seeing Essentuki speaking with near-absolute zero ice to Kelly for her lie about "some thousands dying in Bugtown", along with criticizing her for that stupid city name.
When Kelly went out of the meeting after being faced with unshakable facts, Essentuki, thankfully, calmed down, and the regular talk continued. We all agreed that humans in liberated regions needed protection.
The first choice was obviously us, XCOM troopers. But Shen, in her rare non-my-father moment, stated that we were stretched thin already. Reapers, obviously, weren't meant for control, as stated by Konstantin Volikov before. Skirmishers were busy with their own problems and Templars were in same situations as us. We had to choose someone else.
There was a weird group demanding action. They were called "Shrike" or whatever, and they've been famous for their quite good intelligence. We ourselves used it a lot.
Essentuki said plainly: "You volunteered, Shrike, so you're up to this". Other Resistance groups used Shrike's help a lot themselves too, so without us or Skirmishers in consideration, these guys won. They were supposed to keep order in liberated cities while we still went on our liberation cycle.
With the meeting being over, Nic suddenly asked me to go for a walk around the city along with her.
So, I hope that this walk will freshen me from this month's events. I could really use that before going back into the Avenger. This hotel should keep my hard drive in safety.
See ya later, HDD.
