Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Part 76: Getting to Merc Rank 5 Part 1/2: Sidetracked by Nicc
3After a nonstop, hyper focus on constantly going through some of the same Merc Mission, I eventually accumulated 20000 Merc Points at Level 4.
Go back to Garfont Village in Uraya and talk to Yew after this happens. You can go through one more Quest that concludes the growth of Garfont Mercenaries called "Marvelous Mercenaries". Yew has you meet a client at Uraya's Aquagardens. If you can't Skip Travel there, you'll have to have the Field Skills need to dive underwater into that place.
Also, the client has to be met between the hours of 12AM to 5AM (ingame time).

As it would turn out, the client just so happened to be none other than Uraya's Queen Raqura! A person of her statue purposely wanted to keep this client work of hers at a low profile.
Raqura will request of you to recover one of the six Jeweled Signets that is a treasure that was passed down to her from past generations. A Gormotti mercenary named Gavyth stole it!

Before I go through more of that Quest, I take care of a different one called "Difficult Decisions", where a kid named Jelved had a distrust towards a recent mercenary recruit named Nicc. The kid believed that his parents were lost to him.
But then you go talk to Nicc, and he seems like a pretty nice guy. Even Vandham welcomed him into his group while he was alive. He'll invite you to join him on his first Garfont mission through Spirit Crucible Elpys.
So later one, after a bit of the "Marvelous Mercenaries" and also after fight monsters in Elpys, you meet up with Nicc and his chief Corden. The chief will want you to kill 3 Gamen Grebel and 3 Dusky Riik. Get that done, and then return to them for a cooking celebration.
Nicc will need 7 Shade Trouts and a Tarnish Apple to prepare his dish with... but luckily I have all of that already, so DINNER TIME!

After the meal, for the next part of this Quest, wants you to find the Shining Stalactite. It's a Key Item, so you'll find it in a little red baggie.
Go back to the camp with it... and you'll see that almost everyone there is gone! All but Kathira. She'll say that some monsters attacked their group scattering their numbers. Corden was in danger, and most likely Nicc, as well!
Go further into Elpys, and you'll see a tradgey. The rest of the group were killed by 2 Brutal Aspids. Kill them for revenge!
But then after that fight, you'll discover that Nicc was not along those that were killed by those Aspids, and but Corden was. Looks like this wasn't the first time Nicc was put into this situation...

Return to Garfont Village with Nicc and Kathira. Jelved will be waiting their to confront Nicc about how he let more mercenaries die, just like what happened to his parents.
Nicc finally admits that he turned tail to save himself back in Gormott, which led to the death of Jelved's parents. He never wanted to see Nicc again, but you can choose whether he really leaves or not. You will complete the Quest either way, but then you realize right there why it was called "Difficult Decisions"...

After that sidetrack of a Quest, I resume "Marvelous Mercenaries" by hunting down Gavyth in Gormott.
Beat him up, and he'll claim he stole the Jeweled Signet in an attempt to give Gormott a better future.
Gavyth didn't even have the Signet on him, and he wasn't going to tell the group where it was, despite how dangerous it would be to keep such a secret. Mòrag scared him into admitting that someone had it on him in the nearby Titan Battleship.
I will go check that out next, and overall finish this Quest so that my Merc Level can maximize to Level 5!
