Remember how bad the XIII remake was? Well, Microids has hired a new developer, Tower Five, to give it a major revision. Now it has come a long way and there is a Nintendo Switch port, which also is by T5. The cel-shaded aesthetic of the original 2003 game is better preserved, and performance is improved. Crashes and model glitching that plagued the 2020 version are gone.
If you own the XIII remake from 2020, this update is free. If you own the PS4 version, you can buy a PS5 upgrade for a lower price ($10 as of 18 September). Xbox Series X&S owners have a similar upgrade.
XIII is based on the first five volumes of Jean Van Hamme & William Vance's graphic novel of the same title. An amnesiac with a tattoo of the Roman numeral XIII is found unconscious on a beach, and brought to a safe house where he finds a key to a safe deposit box. Before too long, assassins storm the area and XIII must fend against them. He is soon embroiled in a massive conspiracy.
