Time Pilot was designed by Yoshiki "Kihaji" Okamoto, who is best known for Capcom classics like Resident Evil and Street Fighter II. Konami probably regretted firing him when SFII caught on.

There are 5 stages in Time Pilot- 1910, 1940, 1970, 1983, and 2001. After enough enemies are shot down, a boss will appear. Destroy it and go to the next stage. After finishing the space battle with UFOs in 2001, you go back to 1910. Watch for paratroopers, who give you 1000-5000 points when saved.

I like this, but I think it might have been better to use a rotary spinner control. Your turning is a tad sluggish, unlike Bosconian's snappier movement.
