Электроника МС 0511 (Elektronika MS 0511): Part 1
The Elektronika MS 0511 was an educational computer using a processor based on the PDP-11.
In fact it has two of the same CPU ... KM1801VM2 ... where one was used for the peripheral handling, or something (see the Wikipedia article below).
Strangely ... for me .. it requires 42VAC into the machine, which then appears to be switched down to +/-5V and +12V ... I think.
Apparently, this lowered AC voltage was/is used for safety in places like schools. Refer to items 10 & 11 here:
https://www.plugsocketmuseum.nl/Russia1.html
"In the former Soviet Union this socket was and still is commonly used for wiring in places where the voltage is lowered for safety purposes, like in schools, filling stations or in wet areas, and is rated 42V 10A AC. Such an unusual connection is intended specifically to make the connection of standard higher-voltage equipment impossible."
I don't have a 42V supply handy at the moment ... but if it does use those DC voltages then maybe I can swap out the internal power supply for a DIN socket and use a Mean Well PSU that supplies the required voltages.
I have read that these machines had a pretty high failure rate and in fact only averaged 1000 hours before failing ... that's only about 6.5 months if you're using the machine about five hours per day.
Inside it looks really good ... like, brand new (1991 manufacture which was the end of the production run) ... but it has several ULAs and I have had 4/4 failures with similar ... let's see.
But first ... I need to figure out how to power it!
