10 Facts about Halo
3Today I present you “10 Facts about Halo” which you may not know about!
Halo fact α:
Through its development Halo Combat Evolved went from being a real time strategy game and then a third person action game set to release on Mac, after Microsoft acquired Bungie, the studio had to adapt to a whole new system and control scheme with the xbox, thus shifting Halo's perspective to a first person shooter game.
Halo fact β:
Halo was not intended to go beyond the second game, in fact, Halo 2's cliffhanger exists because of the troubled development of the title, which is very well documented on the Internet. In the third cut act of Halo 2 Master Chief and the Arbiter would have reached Earth together, and stopped the Prophet of Truth from activating the Ark, which was originally intended to be there instead of Halo 3's portal.

The first two people that laid the foundations for the Halo universe were Marcus Lehto and Jason Jones, their intent was to inject into this new IP some things they liked the most from other franchises that were already popular, among some books and movies the influences that stand out the most are the Alien series and Star Wars.

Halo is almost 20 years old at the time of making this video, and while the universe expanded over just gaming since its beginning, there were never as many Halo books and novels until now. In total there are 30 Halo books that help to build a more expensive and cohesive universe, not counting the comics of course, and all of them make a great job in not getting in the way of other established events in the Halo canon.

Halo has a strong relationship with pizza, one that goes way back to Halo 3 when Bungie studios consumed more than 20,000 pounds of pizza during the development of the title. Most recently instead, when 343 Industries announced they wanted to port Halo: the Master Chief Collection on PC, fans of the series sent to their studios innumerate pizzas, so many that 343 needed to ask them to stop after a few months.

Halo's hero, the Master Chief, John 117, has had physical augmentation that pushed him beyond the human limits. Spartan 2's like the Master Chief, have all gone through these augmentations, that hardened their bones with titanium, improved the strength of their muscles and their reflexes as well as their reaction times – but on top of this, Spartans 2's are also very cultured and intelligent thanks to the comprehensive training they were given.

Cortana's voice actor Jen Taylor used to also voice Princess Peach from Nintendo's Super Mario series from 1999 up to 2006. However, if this surprised you you may be shocked to learn that in Luigi's Mansion she also voiced Toad!

In the Halo universe the Covenant are a group of various alien species that share a common faith in the Halos, space ring worlds which they believe will lead them to salvation. Among these alien species, one of the most dangerous are the Hunters, which, interestingly enough appear in the cover art of the table top mobile game “Halo Spartan Assault” as a silhouette, but not in the actual game!

The Energy Sword is the most recognizable weapon in Halo and one of the most famous in all of gaming, few people though, know that this classic piece of media was inspired by a dagger from South India, the Katara or Katar, which were used during the 14th century.
