Celeste is one of the most lauded indie games ever, and it’s not for no reason. The art style, gameplay, and especially the story are all great, and its soundtrack has gotten a lot of praise, this song in particular. 8 bit Music Theory made a video about how it stretches 3 or 4 musical ideas out to a length of almost 10 minutes, and it really is impressive how much mileage it gets out of simple musical concepts. It also is great music for the level it’s found in, where your player character meets the embodiment of her mental struggles in a dream. On every level it works, the main melody is even a minor key variant of the player character’s theme.
