#147 PUTTY SQUAD - FULL PLAYTHROUGH - Beating My SNES Games #147
Here is of my full playthrough of Putty Squad done, as always 6using original hardware on a Super Nintendo with no cheats or save states! I apologise for the worbly camera. my phone was dying around this time. Too many hours recording screens. Halfway through game I started using a newer phone!
Follow me on instagram @Cabin_game_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.
REVIEW: (Originally posted on Instagram)
In fairness, what probably drives much of the debate stems from the arsenal of home computer users taking great offence at seeing beloved childhood treasures ported badly to consoles. Having never played this one on the Amiga or elsewhere, I can only draw on my experiences here and for what it's worth, I really enjoyed it!
The quirky fingerprints of the Amgia appear all over it. Putty's ability to morph himself into various shapes gives gameplay plenty of character, resulting in a slightly more polished James Pond vibe. There's also a host of interesting original powerups and weapon upgrades to aquire further freshening the experience.
The requirement to locate various captured Putty's before an exit appears drives a need to explore the many areas of each stage & with no time limit to handicap things, gameplay is also rewarding.
That's not to say their isn't frustration. Spikes in enemy damage, occasional leaps of faith & no Amiga platformer seems free of sloppy edge detection but still, I've played far worse.
There is challenge, especially given a password is only offered for each world not level, but its balanced nicely with 3 lives & plenty of others can be acquired for attacking golden robots.
Not judging a book by its cover is a good mantra to live by, but not judging a game based on its review maybe an even better one? Its too often been the case for me!
Guess I'm wasting my time then... quick, reverse psychology, "I take it all back, the games terrible, save your money, play Mario!'
