#251 Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Proof of hacking and playing as Abyss' third form.
A playthrough of the 3rd form of the unplayable boss Abyss in Capcom's Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Third Form Abyss' moves:
qcf + HP
qcf + LK
qcf + HK
qcb + LP
qcb + HP
Super:
qcf + LP
#Do not input the command qcb + HK, as this will freeze Abyss in place#
Well, here's a playthrough I'm relatively proud of. I do apologise for the stutter in the video, but hope it does not marr the experience.
Abyss' third form is a sort of slime monster. He doesn't move conventionally, instead teleporting around the arena, which can make him a little difficult to control. His leaping attack does a good amount of damage, but also means you lose control of him afterwards for a few seconds. He smashes the ground with one of his leaps, dealing decent damage and sending the opponent up into the air, which you can then combo into his yoga flame-style move. He can also disappear and then launch spirit projectiles at you (either vertically or horizontally) which deal a good amount of damage. Finally, Abyss in this form has a super move of that projectile move, which he can use infinitely at his leasure. He's a powerful, interesting boss which the player needs to make sure they timely defend themselves against. Abyss' weakness however is that he has a giant hitbox. If the the player moves to the back of Abyss' giant sprite, they can avoid most of his attacks, and deal a good amount of damage to him. One of the more unique bosses Capcom has made, and personally I quite like him.
So, as this video will make apparent, I have learnt how to utilise unplayable bosses using a cheat engine. This means I've been able to use a number of bosses I wasn't able to before, and means I've been able to be more thorough in my goal of showing all arcade fighting game bosses than I was before.
[How to play as Abyss}
You need a cheating program to edit the character values in the game. I personally use artmoney.
To access Abyss, you must set the search options to look for 2-byte integers, then highlight one of the following characters and search for the number associated with them. This is their character value:
00 = Ryu
01 = Zangief
02 = Guile
03 = Morrigan
04 = Anakaris
05 = Strider Hiryu
Use this to find the address which controls the character value. Once you have, type one of the following numbers into the value section and freeze the value using the program:
24 = First Form Abyss
25 = Second Form Abyss
26 = Third Form Abyss
I will be making a tutorial on how to do this in the future, so stay tuned.
