Red Arremer is the other secret boss of the game, fought under a certain number of pre-requisites, one of which includes winning a battle by chip damage.
Like Athena, he's quite cheap and overpowered as well, though not exactly in the same way. Red Arremer is based on his style from Ghosts n Goblins, as opposed to the Ghouls and Ghosts games, though is also somewhat based off of Firebrand from the Gargoyle's Quest series. As a result, he has the ability to summon enemies from Ghosts n Goblins (in order to put pressure on the player, and annoy them to no end) as well use his trademark fireball attack, and lunge at the enemy in order to do damage. Compared to Athena he's definitely less powerful, though difficult in a different way. He's able to spam a variety of projectiles endlessly in order to prevent the player from being able to hurt him, and then has the ability to lunge at them if they do manage to get close to him. As a result, he's a very annoying boss to deal with, and really doesn't play fair. When playing as him however, he's not particularly interesting. Spamming endless projectiles and only having a few moves of actual substance was what made Magaki in KOF XI such a boring and disliked boss. It makes for a very boring playthrough as he controls in such a disparaging manner to most other characters, barely using combos and always fighting from a distance with projectiles, which is considered quite cheap. He's not an amazing boss all in all, and his only real saving grace is that he's Red Arremer. If he were some original boss with an original design, he wouldn't be likeable in the slightest, but having Red Arremer of all things in the game gives it some worth, as it does by including Zero from Mega Man Zero.
