400- BST Bug Types vs Radical Red: Falkner's Flying- Oh. That was easy.
1I am doing a relatively casual playthrough of Pokemon Radical Red only using Bug types that have a BST (Base Stat Total) of 400 or less. This first fight was against Falkner, Johto's Flying Gym Leader... and he fell like a rock. I only used Joltik (319), a Beautifly (400) and Beedrill (395).
This fight is relatively simple.
Rufflet:
The powerhouse of his team. Rock Tomb and Aerial Ace can destroy your bugs quick if you aren't careful. It has Base 83 Attack so it's even worse, especially with its Hustle ability. It will pivot to Wattrel if you choose an Electric Attack so be careful. Spider Web Turn 1 and then use your electric attacks.
Wattrel:
This Pokemon has Volt Absorb so be extra careful. Likely will use either Flash or Air Slash. I used Beautifly's Air Slash to take it down a notch but any rock attacks would work well here as well.
Flittle:
This one is an absolute joke. So much so, that I threw in Beedrill and won even with a slight type disadvantage. Special Attacks are a no-go with its Calm Mind set up. Just use your physical Bug Moves and you will be fine.

All Bug Type Pokemon must have a base stat total equal or less than 400.
