400- BST Bug Types vs Radical Red: Dottler and Shedinja's Shocking Victory
I am doing a relatively casual playthrough of Pokemon Radical Red only using Bug types that have a BST (Base Stat Total) of 400 or less.
I was originally scared of Lt. Surge due to having almost no answers to his team.
Then Eviolite Dottler and Shedinja wiped the floor with him.
This is the section where I would normally go ahead and go through each Pokemon. But because it was so easy, I'm not going to. Instead, I will mention the process bit by bit.
Turn 1: Set up Light Screen with Eviolite Dottler
After Turn 1:
Mega Manectric spams Charge Beam because it can't see a KO with Flame Burst. Spam Signal Beam hoping for confusion and getting KO'd. But Mega Manectric is low.
After Dottler goes down:
Shedinja has Shadow Sneak. Hope to god you have it.
Mega Manectric goes down:
So you know how you are usually scared due to Fire attacks existing for Shedinja? ...None of the rest of Surge's team has a Fire or Flying move. Much less Dark or Ghost. Shedinja for the win. Use any attack. It's literally a free win after that.
For the few people who actually read these, I guess I'll go through each Pokemon individually.
Pincurchin:
It's now an Electric/Water type. It has Electric Surge, creating Electric Terrain and a Terrain Extender to increase the amount of turns it is up. It boosts Electric moves by 1.5x damage. It will swap with Volt Switch. It also has Scald for ground types and to burn, Discharge to paralyze, and Hidden Power Ice for Flying types.
Vikavolt:
Volt Switch, Bug Buzz, Roost, Mud Shot. It has Levitate. This thing is slow. Take it out quick.
Bellibolt:
The tank of the team. Electromorphosis and Shuca Berry to increase it's electric attacks per hit and to reduce the first Ground move used. Muddy Water and Hidden Power Grass to take out Ground types anyway. It has Parabolic Charge to heal itself. Finally Thunder Wave for status.
Pawmot:
Revenge sweeper. Iron Fist and Sash make it tougher. It only has punching moves. Its only mistake was not having Fire Punch. Drain Punch, Mach Punch, Thunder Punch, and Ice Punch.
Manectric:
It is the first Mega we see. It has Intimidate in base and in its Mega, allowing for Double Intimidate... which would only be a problem for Physical Attackers. Charge Beam to increase Special Attack, Volt Switch to swap out, Hidden Power Grass, and Flame Burst for Grass types.
My rules are simple:
MGM Mode
Base Radical Red Difficulty
Bug Type Pokemon Only
All Bug Type Pokemon must have a base stat total equal to or less than 400.
