Elite Redux, but as Team Sky | Defeating Calvin the Menace
@MandJTV created a famous evil(?) team called Team Sky. As such, I will see how far I realistically can go through Elite Redux v2.5 on Elite Difficulty only using the Pokemon that are valid for the team. I'm jokingly considering calling it my audition.
Today, I am facing the infamous Youngster Calvin who has an intense team in Pokemon Elite Redux.
For the people who do not know, Pokemon Elite Redux is a fangame created using the Emerald Decomp project. It is infamous for having a harder difficulty as well as having an ability and 3 Innates. Abilities can be changed, but Innates remain the same.
The rules are simple:
I must be on Elite difficulty.
-I can only use Flying types, those with Levitate or Hover, and those that can learn Fly, as well as Poochyena/Mightyena (since all evil teams of Hoenn have them for some reason). However, I will not use any Pokemon (besides Poochyena and Mightyena) who do not initially have a flying type or Levitate/Hover (aka, they have to be evolved to a point where the innate is a part of their set). Not in battle anyways. However, if it is part of their innates and not unlocked yet, I will be allowed to use them.
-However, I will later add in a rule where I can exclusively use new Pokemon or variants introduced in Redux.
-I will be defeating every gym trainer (as it is recommended to do so) before the gym leader.
Now, Levitate is interesting because, in this game, it is one of the Innates, which means it is spread among many Pokemon. Hover is also interesting. It is also an Innate that is similar to Levitate. You can't be hit by Ground moves but it also makes you part Psychic type. If I find a Pokemon with an innate that uses Levitate in conjunction with another, such as Aerialist, I will also use it.
Youngster Calvin has a total of six Pokemon in his party (5 if you ignore the Final Gambit Shedinja) that are powerhouses. Let me go through each Pokemon individually in order to tell you what to watch out for. I would not take this as a guide and recommend you check out this hack yourself.
Tinkatink:
Starting off with a heavy hitter, Tinkatink is Fairy Steel type with the Readied Action that doubles the attack of the first move. It also has Super Slammer, which boosts slamming and hammer moves by 1.3x, Rattled, which boosts Speed by 1 if hit by Bug, Dark, Ghost or flinched, and Mold Breaker, which means all moves hit through abilities and innates. It has two STAB moves of Iron Head, and Play Rough with Stealth Rock and U-Turn. It holds an Eviolite, Adamant Nature and 252 EVs in ATK and SPD, and 4 in HP. This Pokemon is a menace. Especially for those unprepared.
Tandemaus:
Tandemaus is interesting. Normalize makes all moves normal, removes resists and makes them 1.1x stronger. Own Tempo making is immune to Scare, Intimidate, and Confusion. Parental Bond because it does make sense, and Technician where sixty BP or less gets a 1.5 X boost. Having Quick Attack, Population Bomb, Pursuit and Charm, a Focus Sash and a Jolly Nature. It can sweep if not careful.
Poochyena:
The actual sweeper of the team. Moxie, Predator where KOs heal 1/4 of this Pokemon's HP, Strong Jaw, and Nocturnal where is boosts own Dark moves but reduces damage from Bug and Fairy types by 25%. One bad move and this thing can take you out. Crunch, Howl, Knock Off and Play Rough. It has something to take you out.
Shedinja:
Not even gonna sugar coat this one. Final Gambit. Focus Sash. Wonder Guard. Moving on.
Alolan Diglett:
Arena Trap, Tangling Hair, Steelworker and Ambush, which guarantees a crit turn 1. Earthquake, Cut, Rockslide and Astonish. Focus Sash. This thing is a revenge killer and a fast one at that. Anything you use against this thing is going to get crit turn 1. Hope to god that you don't have too low HP or it doesn't see a kill.
Seel:
This thing might as well be a Pseudo at this point. Fur Coat halves damage from PHYSICAL moves, and does not Double defense. Thick Fat reducing Fire and Ice moves by 1/2. Water Veil means no burn is allowed and gives Seel Aqua Ring upon entry. Oblivious means Infatuation, Taunt, Intimidate, and Scare will not work. It has a Bold Nature and an Eviolite. This thing is a wall. Combine that with a move set of Slack Off, Surf, Ice Beam, and Flip Turn.
