400- BST Bug Types vs Radical Red: Bug Eats Bug World Part 2
3I am doing a relatively casual playthrough of Pokemon Radical Red only using Bug types that have a BST (Base Stat Total) of 400 or less.
Let me tell you, this fight is entirely RNG-based. This fight is a pain, and I understand the lack of people fighting him so late. Regardless, I can say for certain that I have defeated Bugsy using Bug types with a BST of 400 or less.
So let's talk about his team since I haven't really seen people talk about it.
Kleavor:
His starting powerhouse is a pain to mostly everything I have. Luckily a Swift Swim Surskit with Scald helped me out. With the Sharpness Ability, and the moveset Stone Axe, U-Turn, X-Scissor, and Night Slash, his Special Defense and Speed are its downfall, especially on Minimal Grinding Mode, where it lacks EVs. But it is dangerous all the same. Stone Axe sets up Stealth Rocks if it lands, so be careful against it. And before you think of one-shotting it, it has a Focus Sash so you need to be very careful.
Scizor and Mega Scizor:
This was originally one of my biggest issues with this fight. It's one of the reasons it took so long for me to get this video out and I have to thank people on the Reddit post I made for helping me out with making a proper team for this fight. Both Scizor and Mega Scizor have Technician, with Bullet Punch, Dual Wingbeat, U-Turn, and Rock Smash. It is powerful but it lacks some Speed. Even still with my rules, a decent amount of Pokemon get outsped. Luckily a bunch of my Pokemon were capable of dealing some damage.
Araquanid:
I skipped over a few Pokemon to talk about Araquanid. It has Aqua Bubble which means it cannot be burned and takes even less from Fire attacks (not that you would be using it, since of the Permanent Rain). It has X Scissor, Liquidation, Protect, and Toxic, which is a nasty moveset for this tank. It's weaker defense is its Physical Side but even then it does wall you. It also recovers HP every turn with Leftovers. I was lucky that I had Whirlipede, Joltik and Anorith teaming up to take it down.
Scyther:
Eviolite Scyther is... an ok Pokemon. I'll be real, Scyther was never really an issue unless it was set up with Swords Dance. It also has Technician so it's a real piece of work to get through. Otherwise? It is kinda easy to exploit.
Lokix:
Lokix is easy. It has two priority moves, one of which is First Impression that only works Turn 1, and Sucker Punch which requires attacking, but as long as you have an item, it will always go for Knock Off Turn 1 instead, seeing the higher damage.
Vikavolt:
This special attacker has 100% accurate Thunder in this weather. It's a pain to deal with, but it is slow. Realistically, this would be the only Pokemon that can be safely dealt with, with Shedinja.
My rules are simple:
MGM Mode
Base Radical Red Difficulty
Bug Type Pokemon Only
All Bug Type Pokemon must have a base stat total equal to or less than 400.
