400- BST Bug Types vs Radical Red: Whitney's "Normal" Challenge
I am doing a relatively casual playthrough of Pokemon Radical Red only using Bug types that have a BST (Base Stat Total) of 400 or less.
Whitney is a strong trainer in Radical Red. I solely did this for the Eviolite. Was it worth it? ...Yeah probably. Her team is diverse but her Miltank has legitimate nothing for a ghost type with Levitate. Unfortunately, I only have a Shedinja... that can't be hit by Miltank... wait what do you mean this thing doesn't have Scrappy? Or a coverage move.
Tinkaton:
This is a rough starting Pokemon but it's also her fastest. It has Knock Off, Play Rough, Gigaton Hammer, and Encore. I begin with Joltik itemless because having an item is pretty useless considering she has Knockoff. I use Thunder Wave and Spider Web to slow her down and to prevent her from switching. Joltik is frail and so it goes down to where I have to use Nincada to Dig to victory.
Miltank:
Thick Fat, a Chople Berry, Body Slam, High Horsepower, Zen Headbutt, Slack Off. Always pivot to Shedinja here. She can't hit you in the slightest. Eventually, when she only has Miltank left, Shedinja will win you the fight (assuming you haven't accidentally lost it to one of her other 3 Pokemon.)
Farigarif:
If this thing hasn't gone down, it is her first pivot due to it having Shadow Ball and Parental Bond. Either Fury Cutter or immediately pivot when the Miltank switches out, to either deal massive damage or to swap in a Pokemon to counter it. Butterfree and Beautifly are your biggest allies in this fight with Bug Buzz. Bug Buzz will deal massive damage, and having a Throat Spray will help you out (I'll be real, I forgot that Throat Spray works with this move).
Drampa:
Whitney's second biggest threat is tied to Farigarif. This thing has Flamethrower but most importantly, Normal Gem boosted Hyper Voice. It is a devastating combination that can KO many things. Luckily, it's pretty slow and not as bad as Farigiraf. That being said...
Dudunsparce:
This is Whitney's biggest threat. It has Bite, Body Slam, Coil, Roost, Leftovers, and Serene Grace. It will screw you over with any Physical Attack. It is highly recommended you use a Special Attacker against it. It can and will KO you with Body Slam or Bite when given the chance. It will also set up with Coil.
My rules are simple:
MGM Mode
Base Radical Red Difficulty
Bug Type Pokemon Only
All Bug Type Pokemon must have a base stat total equal to or less than 400.
