Rise of the Tomb Raider has been an interesting game, graphically, in my opinion. Many people have raved about it, even on consoles, but I have never been incredibly impressed with it, despite having decent hardware to play it on PC. Something about the setting and the graphics engine makes it so that very few parts of the game flat out "impress" me. The game looks good. It is enjoyable. But I have never been in awe of it, graphically.

With that said... There are some parts of the game that do look very good to me, and actually do look impressive. Those areas just so happen to be the tombs and caverns, where the lighting behaves differently than it does, in the "outside" areas of the game.

Anyway, this spot was the first part of the game that has actually impressed me, so I recorded it, to share it with you guys. This is how nice the game "can" look, when it wants to. There are more spots like this that I will be sharing, after this one.

I decided to keep recording, at the end of the video, when I went into the Geothermal valley, so you guys can see the performance there. MOST of the game has been 4K 60fps, on my SLI GTX 1070 system, but the Geothermal Valley goes below 60fps. While it does not go much below 60fps, the frame pacing does suck, in that area. I think the issue is more CPU related than GPU related, but I could be wrong. I think there's probably a large polygon count, in the village area, and the game is managing a lot of NPC's. I could be wrong, but that is my guess.

Oh, and the video ended abruptly, because the game crashed, in that Geothermal Valley area. The game normally plays well for me, but it crashed two or three times, today. I am guessing it might be driver related, or something random, that happens, when PC gaming. I've played about half the game, on this system, without problems crashing, but it did want to crash, today. Take that as you will. Just sharing the information.
