A Root Fanatic's Top 5 Games (& BGG Ratings Critique)
Root is an amazing game that has been taking the board game industry by storm with its insane balance, asymmetry, and replayability (we have a review on it too!). One of our friends, Jason, who is one of Root's many fans, has 30+ plays, and so when asked what are his top five games of all time, he came up with this list. They are in no particular order, and definitely the type of tabletop experience he would enjoy if he were stranded on a desert island and had to play a bunch of tabletop board games for some reason. He really emphasized how they all satisfy a nice niche, and how he gave most of them a score of 10 on board game geek.
There's dice rollers, war games (area control and variable player powers), party games (social deduction/hidden roles and word games) , and even an economical business game in there, so sit back and see how Jason's tastes align, with Roll for the Galaxy, Leder Games' Root, Splotter's Food Chain Magnate, Decrypto, the Estates, and Ted Alspach's One Night Ultimate Werewolf (which is similar to Mafia).
