Part 8: Dethroning the King

World 8, lava themed, hurrey, and we start with a bit more of story, and i don't necessarily think it's bad, i don't think it was well written, why? let's discuss that in their respective levels

w8-1: Munchy Plant Ruins - This level is one of the few good ones, but it has a few drawbacks, more notably with the Boss, yes, there's a Boss. The Boss may seem impossible at first since you can touch the projectiles when they land, so you need to stomp them to grab them and throw them at the muncher, but the window for that is tight. Other than that this level is good. The level also starts with a "Heartwarming" story between Demo and Con, where they get worried for each other, after all, they have been talking the entire game, however, in world 9 all this falls apart, remember this for Part 9.
w8-House/2: The House of Turner - The final ghost house of the game, and thank goodness, because this level is horrible, it has a lot going on, it stars giving you blocks with arrows, then bouncing blocks, then walls that you can pass holding a p-switch or hand free, this level overwhelms you with that much info, it also bombards you with boos, similar to world 4-Castle. At some point you can stop the boo rings hitting a tile in the ceiling of a corridor, i don't know if this is intentional or not. The level is a giant puzzle, and while i don't find it bad, it's the level that makes it frustrating. For example, you see the reset door in the maze? well, those reset you all the way back to the beginning of the level for no reason, PUT ME AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE MAZE DAMNIT, and that's not all, the next part is a clusterfuck of boos in a corridor of bouncing blocks, enemies off screen that you can't see and instant-death spikes, you need the block in the "On" state to get a shell and proceed with the level, but when the level doesn't show you the danger or don't want you to proceed without damage boosting that is a big problem. Second half is a backtracking game, you need boos to cross a wall, and retrieve a p-switch to get a shell to get another P-switch to get a door, and then you fight a boss because of course you do, and if you die, do the entire second half AGAIN, this is another section that needed a second checkpoint. This level is bad, i don't find it fun, i find it boring and frustrating.
w8-Fortress/3: The Final Assault - This level is long, i don't think the timer is enough to complete it in one go, and even then you probably won't complete it. As mentioned, this level is long but it has a proper checkpoint placement, after a long autoscroller section, and luckily the next room is not that hard but it can be a bit tricky to navigate, and the timer once again is gonna bite you in the ass, other than that this level is decent, nothing crazy and the lenght can be a bit of a deal breaker, or maybe it was just me who recorded 1 hour at this point.
w8-Castle: King Charles's Castle - Different doors, different paths, same destiny. This is your typical final bowser level. I took the same path every time because it was the more short and bearable. To clear the first batch of door you need to clear 3 rooms, 3 ROOMS, and if you're lucky, 2 rooms, after that, another 3 and then you get the checkpoint, take in mind that some of these are brutal and hard, you may need to find one that accommodates with you, after that is a Windows like level and a red corridor made by the man itself. Windows part is ok, a bit claustrophobic for my liking but nothing bad, and thank god that gate with the cookies never worked, i saw the original idea for this section recently and it's stupid to do every time you die. Red section is a clusterfuck of sprites, the trick is to be calm and see the monty moles behavior, and also watch for the lotus, after that you fight the heavy press from Cave Story, and let me tell you, this boss is broken, invisible bullets, 10 or so hits, and in the original release there wasn't any checkpoint, the fixer added that here, but not in any other level that needed it, priorities am i rite? And finally, the King chase, it can be tricky to pull off but it's doable
Secret Area: King Charles's Secret Storehouse - Just a secret area with items and a jukebox

And that's World 8, only thing left is World 9
