This is actually a response video to Kartal's tutorial on Border Skirmish HC. This is getting the level done with no unit losses within 8 Days. You can see I was able to get Victory March available on Day 8 with a Mech able to reach Flak's HQ as well, but I did the Rout option because I wanted to see if I did in fact get rid of the spite APC as I call it for messing with max Speed management during the headway into this.
The APC is serviceable, though mostly an early transport of one of the Mechs and some resupplying is the bulk of what it does. What does help is "dodging" Flak's CO Power. Note that when I say dodging, I would mean placing units where they would not get potentially clipped when Flak invokes either of his CO Powers. I manipulate Flak into using Brute Force because Barbaric Blow is capable of ABSURD luck damage and is bound to happen when my forces, particularly my helicopters, are FAR out where they can be hit repeatedly. Not. Fun. Even with Brute Force, I'm still having to do maneuvers where my helicopters won't get clipped and potentially ruined, but it's not as stringent. Also, there's a moment where Fog of War helps me with this by having a convenient Forest for a Mech to move onto right next to where I would want one of my Battle Helicopters at that would be the only way for something to hit the Battle Helicopter. Take a snapshot, it won't happen again.
There is some luck involved in this outside Flak's CO Power shenanigans. Here are key AI behaviors that would need to happen for this to be at the very least reasonable:
-One of the Anti-Air Tanks must be on the bridge on Day 3 so that it can be destroyed
-All 3 Mechs should be within reach of reasonable attacks to cripple them
-Flak should use his CO Power on Day 3; do NOT overcharge him, which can happen if you deal too much damage to the Mechs, or he will refuse to use Brute Force and you'll eventually have to put up with Barbaric Blow
-The second Anti-Air Tank MUST be destroyed on Day 4 to allow the Battle Helicopters enough leeway to move around
-The MD Tank will hopefully move into range of both indirects on Day 5 to allow for 2HKOing it and making fast damage a LOT easier.
Also as a note, my general maneuvers are in interest of keeping the APC and one of the Artillery pieces from escaping where I'd have to put up with tedious Fog of War Forest shenanigans from the southeast Forests. It's funny how there's ONE case where the Fog of War helped, but in general, yeah, the computer not only cheats but it wants to throw spite toward the Speed score. With an HQ Capture, as long as Victory March is ready in time, it wouldn't have mattered, and of course it was ready here, but with a Rout, yeah, best not to let anything escape.
