Aliens in Paradise seems odd to me. I shouldn't have a problem with aliens, dinosaurs, or paradise, but the way they are delivered in this game just makes me feel a little weird about it. Perhaps it's the sounds that the alien spacecraft makes, or maybe it's the entire last fight that is unsettling. Regardless of how it made me feel, Adventure Island II is a great title for the Gameboy.
This installment is definitively harder than the first. Perhaps it was my lack of patience for doing back to back Adventure Island games or my frustration with Master Higgins, but I was pissed off while playing this title. I stopped after the third stage to eat lunch and the fifth stage made me pound my keyboard in a way may have permanently injure my emulator....not sure how though. What gets me is that the difficulty is like a mountain, peaking at stage five, then coming back down after that.
Since this game came out only a year after the first, graphics and sounds are pretty much the same quality. This time around though you get a total of eight items you can store in your inventory including a Triceratops, a crystal, and a boomerang which I can only deduce is alien in technology by the sound it makes while being flung.
