Agony (Amiga) - Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
Agony pushed the Amiga to a high standard, for which the machine is best known. Yet it had its issues. Many say its too easy? We find out.

We played this in the Lemon Competition close to the end of 2014. I was in 2nd place. Another player (Harry) beat my score and climbed the ladder 2 points ahead. I was in apathy with the game - just didnt feel like a solid shooter (of which we have only a few on the Amiga, as I dont rate Project X either). So I effectively handed him the 2nd place that year (and I dont mind cus he deserved it) on the basis of not really liking this game enough to play it. The graphics are great and the music and whole package, but there is just something missing.
I could go into stories about the ripping, but I know there are progs which rip smoothly at 50fps and have no flicker, but just no luck. I tried Camtasia 50fps, Open Broadcaster 50fps, and Fraps 50fps. The Fraps was slightly better so I went with that version of the edit, although I was close to throwing in the towel towards the end. At least with Fraps there is supposed to be no sound lags. Yet I'm sure I still detect a lag after the first few powerups.
The Unreal footage came from the Zeusdaz longplay. Its in low res but I wanted to show that level of the game compared to Agony. I used Ironclaw's World of Longplays video for the final stages. Hope you dont mind guys, please see this as a tribute to your work.
During my research I found Franck Sauer's page on the making of Agony; which is where I got the owl pencil drawing; and on Moby Games the info about the original music. I recorded it playing from the real .MOD file and had this (and HS music) in the show. I feel the original music sounds more like a harpsichord. I may be wrong. As the theme of this series is time travel, this is a 'past' themed game.
