43Lemmings is yet another Classic Amiga title, released by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis. Its a point and click puzzle game with a difference, full of laughs and lethal hazards.

Yes, you read the date right; I did rip all of these (and more!) two years ago. This series of rips was supposed to be a quick run-down of all the Lemmings games to be released around the time of F1GP in season 1. But when I came to edit the footage, I realised the Windows pointer (in the background) was actually over all the footage; making it all worthless and for nothing. I didnt delete all the material but kept them in a 'to redo' folder to get around to re-ripping later. Cut to 2014. I finally discover a way to 'unpack' the encoded Lemmings video and strip out the pointer. I intended to release the Lemmings mega video after Test Drive II, but after editing all the footage it came out to over 1.5 hours. It felt pretty daunting to have to edit that much, and I probably ran out of time to do a proper job on it anyway, so the project was pushed back from season 1 to season 3.
When I went back to the editing this week, I knew this was for Amiga 30, so it had to be done and ready. The edit took about 4 solid days; the first being the voice-over. The second and third trying to get the voiceover fixed of bugs and balancing the audio. And another six hours adding the comparison zone and images and disks and captions. I found the ending screen of the game; a screen I'd seen before by trying in the code for the final level in the game and completeing it. The image lead to a .css savestate, which gave me the full ending. Then there was the job of finding out all the names of the guys in the end photo; and was one of those 'after all these years I find out' kinda jobs. I'm not 100% sure I matched the names up right, but most are correct, having trawled though google to find photos and references of these guys. I didnt even mention that the DMA crew were in fact from Scotland, and started out as members of The Kingsway Amateur Computer Club in Dundee. Or the fact that DMA stands for Direct Memory Access; which the Amiga was King of back in the day. And of course the fact DMA is now Take Two and Rockstar North, and the makers of the GTA series. (Or the fact that Psy-gnosis means: Mind Wisdom).
Its 8.10pm now on Friday and I'm still rendering the final film!, having run out of time to pack it out with stuff. I didnt even get time to watch this back in one go yet, so the outcome will be a surprise, and hopefully without (too many) bugs! Fingers crossed I get to uploaded it all before the deadline.
There is still one more game from back in 2013 which needs releasing, but thats Impossamole; another love it or hate it game, so I'll leave that review for another time.
p.s. I re-uploaded this on release day for quality reasons; but somehow youtube still makes the video much plainer than my black contrast and sharp colour final renders, and makes them look washed out.
