Lotus III (Amiga) - A Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
Lotus 3 was the third and final Lotus game of the Trilogy on the Amiga. Its bigger, more diverse and certainly very playable.
Production Notes:
Recorded: 4 March, 17 March, and 1 April 2015
Edited: 15-21 August 2015
This is another long show and is an exception this series as I try to keep everything around 30mins if I can. This show was extended by perhaps 10mins due to adding POD on the end of it, recorded live last week. I didnt realise the game was supposed to have 25 levels and I died intentionally on 25 thinking the game would go on forever - so I dont know if there are more levels than this.
The editing took a bit longer than expected due to me adding bits and trivia on the final day. I knew I'd be going over the deadline for uploading this, so I added even more photos and trivia - and this meant I missed the usual Saturday morning launch. I almost gave away the village in which Shaun lives, but I thought that was a bit too personal, and this info is on the net anyway. All the MF Team were based on the Wales North coast, and as far as I know they all still live there.
I must admit I wasnt impressed when I had this compared to the other Lotus games, and it seems a bit too sprawling with tracks which feel sometimes unplaytested. I know this is Andrews favourite Lotus game, and others may love this too, so I didnt want to make the game sound bad because it clearly is a very polished.
The video took several hours to render and finished at 8pm on Friday, so I uploaded what I could Friday night and uploaded the second half of this on the Saturday, so the release time was around 4:30. By 6pm I came back to check the video. The rendered file was ok on my computer, but the final show on youtube had a 3 second delay. So yet again I had to delete the video (and the great comment) and re-render. It was discovered that the 60fps was causing the error on the youtube side, so I went back to 50fps. I also ran the final video through a compressor to get the file down from 2.7GB to under 500mb, and this meant the upload finished around 9pm.
The sound was still 0.5 seconds out of sync in most parts, and the SFX and music track is also way too quiet (or my voice is too loud), but at least its not 3 seconds off like before. But I wasnt happy with the sound so I took it down again and made a better job of it. (If this video is going to be my one and only effort to cover this game, I want it to stand up at least). It's just been one of those agonising apologising weeks. ARG!...as they say... :)
