Amstrad 6128plus + Gotek: Part 2 (Creating an External Drive Case)
Now that we've replaced the internal 3" floppy drive with a FlashFloppy Gotek, let's try to re-use the physical drive as an external, second drive.
I found I had a case that was almost perfect for it - I got it from Element 14 ... Hammond Series 511 metal enclosure, part 511-0900:

I had to make a cut-out at the front for the drive, and drilled some ø3mm holes on the sides to hold the drive in place.
As the drive runs on +5VDC only, I'm planning to install a 2.1mm DC power socket and run it from a 2.1A USB power supply (that should be enough? will verify).
For the floppy drive connector, I've ordered (from Aliexpress) some 36pin male Centronics plugs with crimp so I can (hopefully) easily create a ribbon cable.
Finally, I'm thinking that maybe I could add an A:/B: selector switch on the front panel so it could be used as an A: drive on a 464plus or a B: drive on a 6128plus ... ?
To be continued ...
