Thanks to a seller on ebay who pointed me to this machine for sale relatively cheaply. I've already got three of this RED version (there's two versions of the Moldovan BYTE that I'm aware of), but I noticed the motherboard was different in this one ... the RED versions are quite simply and use a Soviet clone of the ULA, whereas the Spectrum versions are implemented with discrete logic.

Of the four Moldovan BYTEs that I had, only the Spectrum version works.

So I had hope that this RED version might also work ... alas, it does not. It has an East German Z80 clone (the UB880D) and has a Soviet КМ573РФ8А ceramic-cased EPROM ... which is actually a 32KBbyte EPROM (27256 equivalent), not the usual 16KByte I was expecting for a ZX Spectrum clone. Interesting.

We drove back from Brisbane today so a bit tired, hence the rather quick video - will compare with the other BYTEs I have over the weekend, maybe.
