In this demonstration is another approach to composing a melody using SuperCollider. Here, we'll focus on the \midinote key, and a number of Pseq sequences. Inside these sequences are MIDI number values (e.g. 60 for middle C) and semitone values (e.g. 2 being a total of two semitones up from the tonic of the scale). This provides the composer a little more control.

For material, we use the Scale UGen.
Evaluating "Scale.directory;" have a SC output an extensive list of scales all across the globe.

While this video involves a MIDI instrument, the same method can be applied to sound files, where the pitch of the file is changed based on rate and the ".midinote" method for transposition. I will have a video on this specific approach in the near future.
