Ape Escape! An Amazing Farewell To Retro - PlayStation (Part 1 of 2)
This was the final retro game we got to play before the release of Street Fighter 6. Ape Escape came out very late for the PlayStation, but it was one of the first games to use the DualShock controller. You use the left joystick to move and the right joystick to attack in that direction. Every single button has a use, and the developers make full use of that with really cool gadgets and gameplay. The story is that a bunch of apes... have escaped through a time machine, and we have to set things right by capturing them. This allowed for some cool 3D platforming and puzzle solving. The levels start off small and simple, then expand to massive worlds with different time settings. You can even unlock bonus mini games that are honestly fun on their own. The music is absolutely amazing, and this is easily one of the best games on the PlayStation, which is impressive since this game was an obvious tech demo to showcase the new controller. We will be taking a short break from our retro streams after this game, but I'll definitely be back to continue our adventure. This is part 1 of our playthrough.
