About this video:
In this video robin from rbn hardware takes a greater look at respawn entertainments latest first person shooter called apex legends. Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Set in the same universe as the Titanfall duology, the game was announced and released on 4 February 2019 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

About apex legends:
Apex Legends is a battle royale game borrowing concepts of the hero shooter, taking place 30 years after the events of Titanfall 2. Player are grouped into squads of three and play with against other squads in up to 60 player matches to scour the game map for weapons, ammo, and other equipment as to be last team standing. Unique to Apex, players that are downed by opponents can be respawned back into the game if their squadmates take certain actions within a short period of time after the player is killed.

Each player selects from a Legend character that possess unique skills and abilities but can be customized in appearance. At launch, the game featured eight Legends: Bloodhound, a technilogical tracker, Gibraltar, a shielded fortress, Lifeline, a combat medic, Pathfinder, a forward scout, Wraith, an interdimensional skirmisher, Bangalore, a professional soldier, Caustic, a toxic trapper, and Mirage, a holographic trickster. Caustic and Mirage must be purchased through in-game currency. While the Titans of Titanfall are not present in Apex Legends, acrobatic gameplay features of these Titans are mirrored in Apex, including vaulting, sliding, and jumping long distances.

Apex Legends is free-to-play and supported through microtransactions which can be used to buy in-game currency, usable to purchasing new Legend characters, Apex Packs (the game's version of loot boxes with randomized cosmetic items that have no gameplay impact), and battle passes which reward players with new seasonal cosmetic items by completing in-game challenges

Respawn Entertainment had previously created both Titanfall (2014) and its sequel Titanfall 2 (2016) while an independent studio; Electronic Arts supported the publishing of these titles, and in 2017 then acquired Respawn. Both Titanfall games had been critically praised and had strong player followings, but did not achieve appreciable sales metrics. Respawn wanted to pursue a game that would take advantage of the potential revenues in free to play games, and came up with the concept of Apex, putting the bulk of the studio's effort to make an initial strong release. EA has skepticism in this approach and considering it risky, according to Respawn's Drew McCoy, but the success of Fortnite Battle Royale showed that such approaches were possible.

Apex Legends is inspired by several shooters of the last decade: Bungie's Halo and Destiny which incorporated engaging combat systems with an evolving narrative, Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege which demonstrated the use of unique classes to dynamically change an otherwise simple formula, and Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch for refining the hero shooter concept
