Aragami: Shadow Edition (Xbox One S) - Gameplay
Welcome to Game Play. A series, of sorts, where I check out various video games and share the pure gameplay experience with you.
Today we're taking a look at Aragami: Shadow Edition on the Xbox One S.
My immediate impressions so far:
This is simply put an excellent game. You play as Aragami, a mysterious shadow assassin brought to life by an equally mysterious character, tasked with bringing justice.
In Aragami, the shadows are your closest ally as they provide both cover, replenish your shadow essence (energy to perform various moves) and make you invisible to your enemies as long as you're not in close proximity. Learning how to master the shadows and fully use them to your advantage is both key to your survival and great fun to experiment with. Especially for those fond of stealth games as it offers variety and a bit of exploration.
In terms of gameplay, Aragami seems straight forward and familiar. For instance, the ability to "flash travel" or teleport between various shadows feels a lot like the Blink move found in both Dishonored and Dishonored 2. I haven't come across combat, so to speak, but you are able to take down your foes using stealth kills.
All in all, Aragami seems like a great game that will offer players from all walks in life a fantastic experience presented with amazing visuals and sounds. From what I can tell, it only gets better from here and considering the already high standard set, I definitely recommend checking this one out.
The game was recorded directly on the console to an external HDD. No postwork has been done.
