MediEvil (Playstation 4 Pro) - Gameplay
Welcome to Game Play. A series, of sorts, where I check out various video games and share the pure gameplay experience with you.
Today we're taking a look at MediEvil on the Playstation 4 Pro.
My immediate impressions so far:
Having grown up with nigh ancient consoles such as the NES and the original Playstation back in the day, I can definitely sense this game's historic roots in terms of gameplay and overall design. However, I've never played the original MediEvil when it first launched more than 20 years ago, so it's been an interesting return to the past.
The game looks beautiful, and it definitely doesn't hide that it's a remastered version of a classic Playstation game. Some of the gameplay elements can feel a bit outdated when compared to modern releases, but I honestly believe it adds to the charm. Especially for those who remember the rather clunky controls and cameras typical for that era.
Overall, I'm having quite a fun time and I enjoy the trip down memory lane albeit in a somewhat modernised fashion. It's far from perfect, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
Just a FYI: since my console is set to Danish as my native language, the game translates in-game menus and subtitles to Danish.
The game was recorded directly on the console to an external HDD. No postwork has been done.
