Bright Memory (Xbox Series X) - Gameplay
Welcome to Game Play. A series, of sorts, where I check out various video games and share the pure gameplay experience with you.
Today we're taking a look at Bright Memory on the Xbox Series X.
My immediate impressions so far:
The Xbox Series X is a beast. Absolutely. It packs some serious firepower under the hood, but until now I haven't had the opportunity to fully experience the system with a game specifically made for next generation hardware.
And then I bought Bright Memory - a game that can only run on next gen hardware, as far as I know, so I was definitely curious to see what the Series X is capable of at this stage.
Made by a single developer, Bright Memory is an intense FPS with loads of action, adventure and combat running on the mighty Unreal Engine.
The game is fast paced and serves as a showcase for what's to come in the future in terms of games being released and truly optimised for the system. Bright Memory looks quite amazing with sharp visuals and audio to fully present itself in at its absolute finest. Although I'm not sure if changing any of the impressive list of settings will achieve much in the long run, it's cool to see that level of variety and settings. Something I hope to see more developers do in the future as it only adds options for the players to really tailor their gaming experience. The console didn't make noise at all during gameplay which was, quite honestly, really cool to experience.
All in all, the Xbox Series X is a magnificent machine that offers plenty of horsepower to keep gamers everywhere satisfied. How does it compare to the Series S, which I've also made a few gameplay videos of? Well. It's not actually night and day, as both consoles offer pretty much the same experience in terms of loading speeds, noise levels and auto HDR among others. The main difference, as I can tell, is the resolution. Both systems are great, and I can definitely recommend upgrading to next gen in order to experience the enhanced games and your existing library - now only much better.
The game itself? Well. I've no idea what I'm doing, who I'm doing it for and why I'm doing it, to be honest. Perhaps I wasn't paying too much attention, but in all honesty, I didn't really care. It was an awesome experience with excellent combat that truly got my heart pumping.
The game is also available on Steam (and perhaps the PS5) at a discounted price and I recommend checking it out :)
The game was recorded directly on the console to an external HDD. No postwork has been done.
