I take a look at taming the Mammoth in Ark: Survival Evolved for PC.

Technique 1: Use 5 - 10 or more Tranq Arrows, clean and effective depending on the level of the creature.
Technique 2: Use Slingshot (you can use this way should you not be advanced enough for Tranq Arrows). Prepare for at least 22 - 35 stones that will be needed to knock it out :)

Most important is choose a spot safe from predators to knock out your mammoth. You will be very upset if it is eaten by a scorpion or wild raptor when you have partially tamed it over an hour or more :)

After knocking your Mammoth unconscious, feed it some Narco Berries or Narcotics to keep Torpor levels high and various berries into it's inventory to keep it eating and taming. It prefers the purple Mejoberry. If you have it's preferred Kibble this will go a lot quicker.

Tame time is roughly 2 - 2.5 hours or so, depending on the berries you use, how you knocked it out and the level of the creature.
